Esther

The Lord created the heavens and the earth. The Lord
governs , maintains, and controls lives in the world.
God was in control of the events in the book of Esther.
The name of God is not mentioned in the book of Esther,
Nothing is said about the law of God. Nothing is said
about Jewish worship. Nothing is said about the Temple.
But God works through people to bring about His purpose.
God worked through Ahasuerus , Mordecai, Esther , and even
through the wicked Haman to reveal Himself.
We can see God at work through the lives all around us.
Queen Vashti was the queen of the Persian king's harem.
During his banquet, king Ahasuerus (Xerxes) wanted to show
off her beauty to the officials and all his guests. But
Vashti refused to come.
This made the king furious,
because she had insulted him in public. And Xerxes sent
Vashti into seclusion and sought another woman to take her
place as the queen of the king's harem.
Among the beautiful virgins brought before the king was a
Hebrew whose name was Hadassah (Esther).
Esther's parents had died when she was very young. Mordecai,
a cousin had adapoted her and brought her up as his own
daughter.(Esther 2:17)
God works through people to carry out His will. God works
through good people and bad people.
God works through evil people motivated by lust, ambition,
and selfishness toward their destruction.
God works through good and righteous folks motivated by
their noble motives.
God does not interfere with the free will that He has
given to man.
Evil people make their decisions toward their own
destruction.Good folks make their own decisions toward
everlasting life.
And we know all things work together for good to them that
love God, to them who are the call according to His
purpose.(Romans 8:28)
God cared for His people , the Jews , who were outside of
Jerusalem as He has cared for them throughout history.
God used Mordecai where he was. God used Esther where
she was. They did not returned to Jerusalem, but God used
them to carry out His will and purpose, where they were.
The Lord can use you where you are.
There is an appointed time for everything...a time to be
silent,and a time to speak.(Ecclesiates 3:1,7)
Esther had not yet made known her kindred and people,
for Esther did what Mordecai told her as she had done when
under his care.(Esther 2:20)

Man's laws for marriage don't produce happiness. Only
God's law produce happiness. God's law is that every
woman should have her own husband.(1 Cor 7:2)
Esther found no security in king's affections(Esther 4:11)
Even after the king had selected Esther, there was
another contest of beautiful girls.
And when the virgins were gathered together the second
time, then...(Esther 2:19)

There was no security in Esther's relationship with the
pagan king, even though she was the queen.
As fast as she had rose to the top, she could fall quickly
like Vashti.
Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man,
in whom there is no help.(Psalm 146:3)

It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence
in man.(Psalm 118:9)
Some time later king Xerxes promoted a man named Haman to
the postion of prime minister. Haman hated Mordacai,
because he refused to bow down to Haman.
Haman persuaded Xerxes to sign a decree authorizing the
destruction of all the Jews.
Mordecai asked Esther for help.
Esther invited the king and Haman to a private banquet.
At the banquet Esther made known to the king of Haman's
plot against the Jews.
The king's wrath was great. And Haman was hung on the
gallows he had prepared for Mordecai. God rescued the
whole Jewish nation from destruction. God was keeping
watch over the Jewish people, arranging the circumstances
with His hand.
If we recognized the Lord as the Hero behind the Book
of Esther, we feel no embarrassment about the original
Hebrew text. The Book of Esther was recognized by Christ
as part of the Scripture. And Christ Jesus gave
His approval of it.
We need not to defend Mordecai's refusal to bow down
to Haman. We need not to defend Mordecai's instruction to
Esther to cover up her Jewishness. We need not to defend
the actions of the Jews. This is because God knows
what He is doing.
God worked through the lives of Xerxes, Haman, Mordecai ,
and Esther to reveal Himself to the world. It is the
Lord who puts it all together.
God works through people to bring about His purpose. And
He still doing it.
And we know that all things work together for good to
them that love God, to them who are the called according to
His purpose.(Romans 8:28)

ESTHER IS MADE QUEEN

(Esther 2:1-18)
After these things, when the wrath of king Xerxes was
appeased, he remembered Vashti, and what she had done,
and what was decreed against her.
Then said the king's servants that ministered unto him ,
Let there be fair young virgins sought for the king.
And let the king appoint officers in all the provinces
of his kingdom, that they may gather together all the
fair young virgins unto Sushan the palace, to the house of
the women, unto the custdy of Hege the king's chamberlain,
keeper of the women; and let their things for purification
be given them. And let maiden which pleases the king be
queen instead Vashti.

And the thing pleased the king . And he did so.
Now in Sushan the palace there was a certain Jew, whose
name was Mordecai, the son of Jair the son of Shemei, the
son of Kish, a Benjamite.
Mordecai had been carried away from Jerusalem with
Jeconiah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnexxar of the Babylon
had carried away.
And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle's
daughter, for she had neither father nor mother. And she
was fair and beautiful.
And Mordecai , when her father and mother were dead,
took her for his own daughter
So it came to pass, where the king's commandment and his
decree was heard, and when many girls were gathered
together unto Shushan the palace, to the custody of Hegai,
that Esther was brought also unto the king's house, to
custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.
And Esther pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him.
And he speedily gave her things as belonged to her, and
seven maidens , which were meet to begiven her, out of
the king's house.
He gave Esther the best place in the harem and assigned
seven girls from the royal palace to serve her.
And he preferred her and maids unto the best place of the
house of the women.
Estehr had not showed her people nor her kindred ; for
Mordecai had charged her that she should not show it.
And Mordecai walked every day before the court of the
the women's house, to know how Esther did, and what
should become of her.
Only authorized eunchs could enter the king's harem, but
Mordecai could find information about Esther through these
enuchs.
It took Mordecai a lot of effort to keep in touch with
Esther.
Train up a child in the way he should go ; and when he
is old he will not depart from it.(Prov 22:6)
Children , obey your parents in the Lord.(Ephesians 6:1)
Honor your father and your mother , that your days may be
long.(Exodus 20:12)

Quite often it proves good to listen with respect to a
parent's advice.
Esther listened and heeded to the good advices of Mordecai.
The regular beauty teatment for the women lasted twelve
months. They were massaged with oil of myrrh for six
months and with oil of balsam for six months. After that,
each girl would be taken in turn to king Xerxes.
Whatever she desired was given to her to go with her out
of the house of the women unto the king's house.
In the evening she went, and on the morrow she returned
into the second house of the women, to the custody of
Shaashgas, the king's chamberlain, who kept the concubines.
She came in unto the king no more, except the king
delighted in her, and that she was called by name.
Now when the turn of Esther was come to go in unto the
king, she required nothing but what Hega the king's
chamberlain.the keeper of the women , appointed.
And Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them
that looked upon her. Esther was admired by everyone who
saw her. She wore just what Hegai advised her.
So esther was taken unto King Xerxes into his royal palace
in the tenth month, in the seventh year of his reign.
Estehr had learned obedience from Mordecai. Now it served
her well. She was humble and submitted her judgment to
that of Hegai, an experienced keeper of the king's harem.
He knew what pleased the king. Esther stand out from the
other girls. And her modesty and humbleness won the favour
in the sight of all them that looked upon her.
What is beauty in a girl ?
Certainly the Lord had created Esther with the unusual
beauty that made her stand out.
Man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on
the heart.(1 Samuel 16:17)
Her humbleness only served to set off her natural beauty.
Your adornment should not be outward - braided hair,
putting on gold trinkets, or putting on robes. Instead it
should be the inner virtues of the heart with the
imperishable qualities of a gentle and quiet spirit,
something of great value to God.
You should not use outward aids to make yourselves
beautiful, such the way you do your hair, or the fancy
jewellery you put on, or the dresses you wear. Instead,
your beauty should consist of your inner heart,
the ornament of meek and quiet spirit, which in the sight
of God is of great price.
For after this manner in the old time the holy women also,
who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection
to their own husbands.(1 Peter 3:3-5)
and the king loved esther above all the women, and she
obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the
virgins ; so that he set the royal crown upon her head,
and made her queen instead of Vashti.
Esther did not depend upon her beauty , nor upon Xerxes .
Esther put her trust in the Lord, even in such a situation
Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Never rely on
what you think you know. remember the Lord in everything
you do and He will show you the right way.(Proverbs 3:5-6)
Esther's relationship with God was of greater importance
than her relationship to any human being . esther knew that
God loved her. God's love gave her dignity and self-respect
in any situation.
Then the king made a great feast unto all his princes and
his servants even Esther's feast.
And he made a release to the provinces , and gave gifts ,
according to the state of the king.
God had his servants , Esther and Mordecai in position
to carry out His will.
God can see ahead of us.
God said,
Before they call, I will answer.
The Lord can see the danger to the Jews. God worked
through Vashti's disobedience to bring Esther to a place
of great influence.
Esther found no security in the king's affections. even
after the king had selected esther, there was another
beauty contest of beautiful girls.
And when the virgins were gathered together the second
time, then...
(Esther 2:19)
It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence
in man.(Psalm 118:9)

MORDECAI SAVES THE KING'S LIFE

(ESTHER 2:19-23)
Meanwhile Mordecai had been appointed by the king to an
Administrative poistion. And Mordecai sat in the
king's gate.
Esther had not yet showed her kindred nor her people ;
as Mordecai had told her. Esther had still not let it
known that she was Jewish. Esther did the commandment
of Mordecai, like as when she brought up with him.
In those days , while Mordecai sat in the king's gate,
two of the king's chamberlains , Bigthan and Teresh,
of those who kept the door , were wroth, and sought to
lay hand on the king and plotted to assassinate him.
And the thing was known to Mordecai, who told it
unto Esther the queen. And Esther certified the king
thereof in Mordecai's name.Esther told the king what
Mordecai had found out.
And when an investigation was made of the matter, it
was found out. Therefore they were both hanged on he
tree. And it was written in he book of the chronicles
before the king.
There is an appointed time for everything... a time
to be silent and a time to speak.(Escclesiastes 3:1,7)
Persians considered Jews as a subject nation. The
official queen would have to have come from one of the
seven noble Persian families. But as harem favorite,
the queen of the harem , Esther had to stand or fall on
her beauty. It was not the time for her to reveal her
identity.
But it was time for Mordecai to speak. The Scriptures
clearly tell God's people to support government under
which they live. The Lord allowed Mordecai to learn of
the plot and Mordecai became God's instrument for
delivering the Jews by gaining favour with king XerXes.

HAMAN'S PLOT

(ESTHER 3:1-15)
After thes things did king Xerxes promote Haman the son
Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and swt his
seat above all the princes that were with him.
And all the king's servants, that were in the king's
gate, bowed, and reverence Haman ; for the king had so
commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor
did him reverence.
Then the king's servants , which were in the king's gate
asked him why he was disobeying the king's command.
When they spoke daily unto him, and he hearkened not
unto them, that they told Haman , to see whether
Mordecai's matters would ... , for had told them that he
was a Jew.When Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not , nor did him
reverence, then Haman was full of wrath. When he realized
that Mordecai was Jew, he decided to destroy all the Jews
that were throughout the whole Persian empire.
Haman ordered the lots be cast to find out the right day
and month to carry out his plot. Casting lots can be of
the devil and can lead a foolish peson into disaster.
And Haman said o nking Xrxes,
There is a certain people scattered abroad and
dispersed among the people in all the provinces of your
kingdom ; and their laws are diverse from all people;
neither keep they the king's laws. Therefore it is not for
the king's profit to suffer them. If it please the king, let
it be written that they may be destroyed. And I will pay
ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those
that have the charge of te business, to bring it into the
king's treasuries.

And the king took his ring from his hand and gave it unto
haman the Agagite, the Jews' enemy.
Haman offered ten thousand talents of silver to the king to
bribe him to massacre the Jewish people. The king gave his
ring to Haman but he refused the bribe.
Then were the king's scribes called 0n the thirteenth day
of the first month. And there was written according to
all that Haman had commanded unto the king's lieutenants,
and to the governors that were over every province,
and to every rulers of every people of every race according
to the writing thereof, and to every people after their
language. In the name of the king Xerxes was it written,
and sealed with the king's ring.
And the letters were sent by posts into all the king's
provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all
Jews, both young and old, little children and women , in
In one day . They were to be slaughtered without mercy and
their belongings were to be taken.
The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given
in every province was published unto all people, that they
should be ready against that day.
The posts went out , being hastened by the king's
commandment, and the decree was given in Shushan the
palace.
And the king and Haman sat down to drink ; but the city
Shushan was perplexed. The city eas thrown into confusion.
Haman made plans, leaving God out of his calculations.
Haman called in the soothsayers to decide on the day to
destroy the Jewish nation. But the chosen day would become
the worst day for Haman.Evil grew stronger. But God sits
in His throne - far above evil ; far above Xerxes; far
above Haman.
The Lord is control of all situations. Haman's plans and
superstitions. Haman's plans and superstitions were made
to cooperate in the plan of God.
Had Haman obtained his wish , the Jewish nation would have
perished. Then what would have become of God's promises ?
How then could the prophecies concerning the great Savior
and the Redeemer of the world be fulfilled ?
Evil people like Haman make their decisions toward their
destruction. Evil people cooperate with God toward their
own destructions.

MORDECAI ASKS FOR ESTHER'S HELP

When Mordecai perceived all that was done, Mordecai rent
his clothes, and put on sackcloth with ashes, and went out
in the midst of the city, and cried with a loud and bitter
cry.
Throughout all the provinces, wherever the king's
proclamation was made known, there was loud mourning
among the Jews, and fasting , and weeping , and wailing.
And many lay in sackcloth and ashes.
In the Bible fasting links with prayer. Fasting meant
prayer, humbling oneself before the Lord.
So Esther's maids and her chamberlians came and told it
to her. then the queen was exceedingly grieved. And she
sent some clothing to clothe Mordecai, and to take away
his sackcloth from him ; but he received it not.
Then she called Hatach , one of king's chamberlains , whom
he appointed to attend upon her, and told him to go to
Mordecai and find out what was happening and why. So Hatach
went forth to Mordecai unto the street of the city, which
was before the king's gate.
And Mordecai told him of all that had happened unto him, and
of the sum of the money that Haman had promised to pay to
the king for the Jews, to destroy them.
He gave Hatach the copy of the decree that was given at
Shushan to destroy the Jews.
Mordecai asked him to take it to Esther. He asked him to
explain the situation to her and ask her to go and plead
with the king and beg him to have mercy upon her people.
And Hatach came and told Esther the words of Mordecai.
And Esther gave him the message to take back to Mordecai.
All the king's servants, and the people of the king's
provinces , do know , that whosoever, whether man or woman,
shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not
called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except
such whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that
he may live; but I have not been called to come in unto the
king these thirty days.

And they told Mordecai Esther's words. Then Mordecai warned
Esther .
Think not with yourself that you shall escape in the
king's house, more than all the Jews. If you keep quiet at
this, help will come the Lord to the Jews, and they will
be saved ; but you and your father's family shall be
destroyed. And who knows but that you have come to the
kingdom for such a time as this and for this very occasion?

Mordecai helped Esther see her situation in the light
of God's plan in her life. Why was Esther in her particular
circumstances? God had placed her there. God had given
Esther the opportunity to help her people, but she had to
act on it.
The words of Mordecai did stir up Esther to do what God
expected.
Esther saw the danger , saw the risk, and saw the
opportunity. And Esther's choice was to die on a later ,
or risk dying now.
Esther knew all the risks.
And Esther put her trust in the Lord.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart ; and lean not unto
your own understanding. In all your way acknowledge Him,
and He shall direct your paths.(Proverbs 3:5-6)
Then Esther told them to give this answer to Mordecai.
Go gather all the Jews, that are present in Shushan, and
you fast for me, and neither eat nor drink three days,
night or day.
I also and my maidens will fast likewise. And so will I go
unto the king, which is not according to the law. And if
I periish, I perish.

And so Mordecai went his way , and did acccording to all
that Esther had commanded him.

ESTHER'S INVITATION

(ESTHER 5:8)
Now it came to pass on the third day , that Esther put on
her royal robes, and stood in the inner court of the king's
house, over against the king's house. And the king sat
upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the
gate of the house.
Esther ,even in a pagan king's harem, could make a choice
and serve the Lord. She was a queen among many wives and
concubines, but she did not know her current favour with
the king.
The Lord worked through the beauty and wisdom He gave
Esther. God used her to deliver His people . The power was
of the Lord. God allows problems and shortages in our lives
so that we can learn to trust the Lord to deliver us.
And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing
in the court, that she obtained favour in the king's sight.
And the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was
in his hand.
So Esther drew near , and touched the top of the sceptre.
The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers
the water. He turns it whithersoever He will.(Proverb 21:1)
The Lord controls the mind of a king as easily as he
directs the course of a stream.
Then said the king unto her,
what will you have , Queen Esther ? And what is your
request ? It shall be even given you to the half of the
kingdom.

And Esther answered,
If it seem good unto the king , let the king and Haman
come this day unto the banquet that I have prepared for him.

Then the king said,
Cause Haman to make haste , that he may do as Esther has
said.
So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther has
prepared.
There is a time to keep silence, and a time to speak. (Ecclesiastes 3:7)
Esther waited for the right time to voice her request. Her
request was not blurted out in condemnation or
irritation.
And the king said to Esther at the banquet of wine,
what is your petition ? And it shall be granted to
you . And what is your request ? even to the half of the
kingdom it shall be performed.

Then answered Esther, and said,
My petition and my request is:
If I have favour in the sight of the king, and to perform
my request let the king and Haman come to the banquet that
I shall prepare for them, and I will do tomorrow as the
king has said.

Esther made the king more curious . She had him begging her
to tell him what she wanted. she did not rush in and
overwhelm him with irritation or condemnation. what did
Esther want ? The king knew no small matter could have
made Esther to risk her life in breaking the law to come
to him.

HAMAN PLOTS TO KILL MORDECAI

(ESTHER 5:9-14)
Then went Haman forth that day joyfull and with a glad
heart : but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate,
that he stood not up, nor moved for him, he was full of
indignation against Mordecasi
Haman was a conceited person who was arrogant, proud, and
inconsiderate.
Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who deals in proud
wrath.(Proverb 21:24)
Haman was a self-admirer. He flattered himself and
deceived himself.
A small matter, which a humble man would hardly notice,
will torment a proud man like Haman.
Nevertheless Haman refrained himself. And when he came
home he sent and called for his friends and Zereesh his
wife.
And Haman boasted to them about the glory of his riches,
and thge multitiude of his children, and all the things
wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced
him above the princes and servants of the king.
Haman said moreover,
Yes, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the
king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself.
Also tommorrow I am invited unto her also with the king.
Yet all this avails me nothing, so long as I see
Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king's gate.

Haman's flaw was his irritation over one person's
attitude. It is better to forgive and forget. By ignoring
Mordecai's slight Haman could have continued as the
prome minister to the king. Instead he chode his own
destruction.
Then said Zersh his wife and all his friends unto him,
Let a gallows be made of fifty cubits high, and
tommorrow speak you unto the king that Mordecai may be
hung thereon. Then go you merrily with the king unto
the banquet.

And the thing pleased Haman.
And he caused the gallows to be made.
His wife and friends gave Haman bad advice. Their bad
advice appealed to Haman's vanity and weakness. They
encouraged him to act foolishly and to destroy himself.
The Lord is in His holy temple. the Lord's throne is in
heaven. His eyelids try the children of men. The Lord
tried the righteous ; but the wicked and him that lusts
for voilence the Lord hates, Upon the wicked He shall rain
snares, fire, brimstone, and horrible tempest. This shall
be the portion of their cup.(Psalm 11:4-6)
God is active moving toward His purpose.
God proceeds upon the basis of perfect knowledge.
Haman made his decision toward his own destruction. Evil
exists only for a season, but it works toward its own
destruction.
We know that all things work together for good to then
that love God, to them who are the call according to
His purpose.

THE KING HONORS MORDECAI

(Esther 6:1-12)
On the night the king could not sleep and he commanded
that the books of records of chronicles be brought to him.
And they were read before the king.
And it was found written, that Mordecai had told of
Bigthana and Teresh, of the king's chamberlains, the keepers
of the door , who sought to kill King Xerxes.
And the king said,
What honor and dignity has been done to Mordecai for
this ?

Then the king's servants that ministered unto him said,
There is nothing done for him.
God controls even our sleep.
He gives His beloved sleep.(Ps 1272)
And the king said,
Who is in the court ?
Now Haman was come into the outward court of the king's
house, to speak unto the king to hang Mordecai on the
gallows that he had prepared for him.
And the king's servants said unto him,
Behold , Haman stands in the court.
And the king said ,
Let him come in.
And the king said unto him,
What shall be done unto the man whom the king delights
to do honor more than to myself.

Haman's self-centeredness made him a poor adviser. His
head was swelled with pride and selfishness. Haman never
stopped to ask who this person was. Haman already
occupied the highest position in the empire, next to
the king. Haman still was not satisfied.
Haman answered the king,
For the man whom the king delights to honor,
let the royal robe be brought which the king used to
wear, and the horse that the rides upon, and the royal
crown which is set upon his head. And let this robe and
horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king's most
nobe princes, that they may array the man withal whom the
king delights to honor, and bring him on horseback through
the street of the city, and proclaim befor him,
Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to
honor.

Haman thought the king was going to honor him. But the king
did not honor him.
and Mordecai came again to the king's gate. But Haman
hurried to his house mourning, and having his head covered.
Mordecai was not puffed up with his honors. Mordecai went
back to his duty at the gate.
God honors those folks who are humble before Him.
But Haman could not bear it, and he went mourning. He had
been eating up by jealousy.
And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends
everything that had befallen him. Then she and his friends
told him that he was beginning to lose power to Mordecai .
and that Mordecai could certainly defeat him.
And while they were yet talking with him, the king's
servants came, and hurried to bring Haman to the banquet
that Esther had prepared.

YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW

So the king and Haman came to the banquet with Esther the
the queen.
And the king said again unto Esther , on the second day
at the banquet of wine,
What is your petition, queen Esther ? and it shall be
be granted to you. And what is your request ? And it shall
be performed, even to the half of the kingdom.

Haman sowed to the flesh. Haman was hot with envy,
inflated with ambition, and bursting with hate. In his
relentless quest for power , he would cut down those who
got on his path.
Be not be deceived ; God is not not mocked ; for
whatsoever a man sows, that shall he reap.(Gal 6:7)

Evil results follow evil deeds. Sin brings wretchedness,
adversity, afflictions, and calamities.
The vain person is punished by the resentments he stirs
up in other people.
God allows the wicked people to destroy themselves. God
allows evil people to pile up wood for their own burning
and own destruction.
Haman sowed wickedness. And he reaped his own death from his
own wickedness. Haman fell into the pit he dug for Mordecai
Whoso digs a pit shall fall therein.(Proverb 26:27)
The queen Esther answered ,
If I have favour in your sight , O king, and if it
please the king , let my life be given me at my petition,
and my people at my request.
For we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be
slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for bondmen
and bondwomen, I had held my tongue, although the enemy
could not contervail the king's damage.

She and her people had been sold for slaughter. If it were
nothing more serious than this, she would have kept quiet
and not bother the king about it. But she and her people
were about to be destroyed and exterminated.
The king Xerxes answered and said unto Esther the queen,
Who is he, and where is he , that dares presume in his
heart to do so ?

And Esther saidm
The adversary and enemy is this wicked Haman.
Then Haman was afraid before the king and queen.
And the king arising from the banquet of wine in his wrath
went to the palace garden.
And Haman stood up to make request for his life to Esther
the queen; for he saw that there was evil against him by
the king.
Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the
place of the banquet of wine.
And Haman had fallen upon the bed whereon Esther was.
Then the king said,
Will he force the queen also before me in the house ?
As the word went out of the king's mouth , they covered
Haman's face.
And Harbonah, one of the chamberlains said before the
king,
Behold also, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman
had made for Mordecai, who had spoken good for the king,
stands in the house of Haman.
Then the king said, Hang him on it.

So they hanged Haman on the gallows the he had prepared for
Mordecai. Then the king's wrath was pacified.
king Xerxes unknowingly acted as God's instrument of justice
for Haman.Haman brought about his own ruin.
For the same measure you mete withal it shall be measured
to you again.
Haman entered into all his own plans, made his own
arrangements, and built his own gallows. No one forced
Haman to build the gallows. Haman did it with his own
free will. Haman built his own gallows, but at last God
hung him on it.
Evil people build their own gallows with their own free
will, but God will eventually hang them on their own
gallows.

DELIVERANCE

(Esther 8)
On the the day did the king Xerxes give the property of
Haman the Jews' enemy unto Esther the queen. And Mordecai
came before the king ; for esther had told what Mordecai
was unto her.
And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from
Haman, and gave it unto Mordecai.
And Esther set Mordecai in charge of Haman's property.
And Esther spoke yet again before the king, and fell down
at his feet, and begged him with tears to put away the
mischief of Haman the Agagite, and his device that he had
devised against the Jews
Since the king's dcree could not be changed, the decree for
the massacre of the Jews could not be cancelled.
The Lord maneuvered His own people into positions where they
could serve His people. Esther exerted no force on the
mighty king.
she could onlyappeal to him with meekness . She fell at his
feet . She let her feelings to show with tears.
Unfortunately ,the decree had already gone out tothe entire
empire. Anythingwritten in the laws of the Persians and
Medes could not be changed. The king could not undo the
evil he had allowed in his name.He could not wipe out the
results of his mistakes.
But Esther persuaded the king to make another decree
authoring the Jews to resist and destroy those who attack
them. God had blessed Esther with beauty and wisdom.
The king granted the Jews which were in every city to gather destroy, to slay, and to cause to perish, all the power
of the people and province that assault them, both little
ones and women , and to take spoil of them for prey. The
city of Shushan rejoiced and was glad.
The Jews had light, and gladness , and joy and honor.
And in every province, and in every city, wherever the
king's commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy
and gladness. They had a feast and a good day.
And many of he people of the land became Jews; for the fear
of the jews fell upon them.
Light represents righteousness.
Jesus said ,
I am the light of the world.(John 8:12)
As we follow Christ, we can walk in the light through the
darkest of circumstances
When the church prospers spiritually, many folks will join
it. when the believers walk in the fear of the Lord and
in the comfort of the Holy spirit, they will be multiplied.

FEAST OF PURIM

(ESTHER 9)
The thirteenth day of Adar came, the day on which the royal
proclamation was to take effect, the day when the enemies
of Jews hoped to have power over them. But it was turned to
the contrary, that the Jews had rule over them that hated
them.
The Jews gathered themselves together in their cities
throughout all the provinces of the king Xerxes, to lay
hand on such as sought their hurt. And no man could
withstand them ; the fear of them fell upon all people.
And all rulers of the provinces , and the liieutenants,
and the deputies, and the officers of the king, helped
the Jews; because of the fear of Mordecai fell upon them.
For Mordecai was great in the king's house, and his fame
went throughout all the provinces, for this man Mordecai
waxed greater and greater.
Most of their enemies were destroyed ; but on the spoil
laid they not their hands. They did no looting.
There are many ways of dealing with the enemies , but the best
way is to forgive and love your enemies.
Persecution often give birth to vindictiveness. The natural
response to discrimination and persecution is unlimited
revenge. Retaliation brings about more conflict. The
persecuted, in retaliating , only encourage persecution.
Retaliation and revenge is no good because they encourage
endless warfare amd conflict.
The Mosiac Law of limited retaliation is a little bit better ,
but it is still very primitive. This is the level of
retaliation in the Book of Esther. An eye for an eye,
a tooth for a tooth, life for life.
(Exodus 21:24; Deut 19:19-21)
The Jews did to others as they intended to do to them.
Then there is the level of no retaliation. No simply refrain
from hitting back by letting the Lord take care of the
problem.
Vengeance is mine ; I will repay, said the Lord.
(Romans 12:19)
In avoiding someone who has wronged us , we are not
attaining any New Testament standard. Jesus has shown
us the highest level of how to treat an enemy.
Jesus siad,
Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do
good to them that hate you, and pray for them which
despitefully use you , and persecute you.

(Matthew 5:43-48)
Return good for evil . Defeat evil with good. Love defeats
hatre and discrimination. Love your enemies until they
become your friends.
Love your enemies. Feed them. Give them a drink of water.
Overcome evil with good.
Retaliation leaves a sense of failure. Retaliation invites
more retaliation. It is better to forgive. Defeat evil
with good. Get rid of the darkness with light. Returning
good for evil yields the joy of victory.
We must understand that we are not fighting against human
beings. God created the entire human race. And God loves
man.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten
that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but
have everlasting life.(John 3:16)
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood...but against
spiritual wickedness. We must put on the whole armour of
God. We wear a helmut of salvation, an an armour of
truth, righteousness, and peace. we fend off the attacks
of the devil by a shield of faith. And we attack with the
sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.(Eph 13-18)
And Mordecai wrote these things, and sent letters unto all
the Jews in all the provinces of the king Xerxes, both near
and far, to establish this among them, that they should keep
the fourteenth day of the month of Adar , and the fifteen
day of the same , yearly, as the days the Jews rested
from their enemies, and the month which was turned unto
them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good
day; feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to
another, and gifts to the poor.
So the Jews followed Mordecai's instructions, and the
celebration became an annul custum called Purim.

MORDECAI'S GREATNESS

(Esther 10)
And the king Xerxes laid a tribute upon the land , and upon
the isle of he sea.
And all the acts of his power and of him might, and the
declaration of the greatness of Mordecai, whereunto the
king advanced him, are they not written in the book of
chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia?
For Mordecai the Jew was next unto the king Xerxes, and
great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of
his brothers, seeking prosperity of his people, speaking
the peace to all their descendants.
Mordecai and Esther were the brains and heart of the
Persian Empire. This paved the work of Ezra and Nehemiah.
Mordecai did not seek his own wealth but his people's
welfare, because he had faith in the Lord. And faith works
by love.
